About Stiggs

From historic railroad depot to brewery, 112 S Park Street has once again made a name for itself.  The building was originally part of the White Lumber Company located on the east side of Lake Street across from the White’s Number One Mill. On June 28th, 1918 the mill burned down and the office building was moved to its current location. The building served as General Offices for Boyne City, Gaylord and Alpena Railroads until 1935. Which then continued to be Boyne City Railroad until 1976 ending its railroad depot streak in 1978 as Boyne Valley. To this day, this is one of the last buildings associated with the railroad. Come September 2016, Mike Castiglione will open the doors to bring the life back into this historical building.

What started as a dream quickly has turned into a reality for owner Mike Castiglione. Mike graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics and went on to a career at Henry Ford Hospital specializing in microbiology. He has been brewing beer for over ten years and has always had a borderline unhealthy obsession with craft beer. The first batch of beer he brewed was in his small college apartment on a cheap electric stove and fermented in buckets in a closet. It was one of the worst beers he has ever made. Since then, he has won multiple home brewing awards, brewed beer with multiple Michigan craft breweries and his beer has been on tap at a few of these locations. He is a certified BJCP beer judge and has traveled the world seeking out local libations to quench his thirst for knowledge of the craft beer world. He has brewed a variety of beer, but a few of his favorites are big barrel aged stouts, sahti, lagers, and IPAs.

Mike wants to thank all of the excellent Michigan craft breweries for allowing him the honor to brew at their facilities including; B.A.D. Brewing Company in Mason, Crankers Brewery in Big Rapids, Draught Horse in New Hudson, Liberty Street in Plymouth, Tilted Axis in Lapeer, and Lake Charlevoix Brewing Company in Charlevoix. Mike is excited to brew Stiggs beer for all craft beer enthusiasts and is proud to be part of the Boyne City community.

At Stigg’s Brewery will be bringing you a concise, from-scratch rotating menu based on what is available and in-season locally. The cuisine will accommodate beer and taste good; those are the two prerequisites. Some of the features will include: a specialty burger, hand-cut french fries with poutine gravy, charcuterie on hand made planks, plenty of fun appetizers, house sandwiches, local green salads with house-made dressings, soup from scratch, simple prep fresh fish, char grilled steaks and vegetables.

Beertenders

 

 

 

 

 

Front of the House Leads

We are looking for enthusiastic & experienced beertenders to pour and deliver our delicious Stiggs beer, farm-to-table menu items, as well as other Michigan beers, spirits and wines. Prior serving/bartending experience and TIPS certification is preferred but not required. Must have interest in Michigan craft beer, wine and spirits. Must be willing to undergo continuous on the job training of new beers/wines/spirits. Occasional travel to craft events or other off site locations will be required. 

 

In addition to beertending responsibilities, FOH Leads will ensure that the Beertenders work as a team and will be responsible for scheduling, educating staff, greeting and seating patrons, overseeing day to day operations in the dining room, FOH inventory, and making sure that patrons have the best possible experience at Stiggs. Previous leadership experience is a plus.

Cooks

 

 

Dishwashers

We are looking for professional line and prep cooks to prepare food to the chef's specifications. Interest in beer brewing and incorporating beer into meals is a must. Monthly bonuses, in addition to base salary, based on individual performance will also be provided to Stiggs kitchen staff.

Looking to get into the kitchen? Aspirations to work along side creative and innovative chefs? Becoming a dishwasher is a great way to get your foot in the door. Monthly bonuses, in addition to base salary, based on individual performance, will also be provided to Stiggs kitchen staff. No experience needed.

Brewers

Looking for enthusiastic brewer to brew beer, create and execute new and exciting beer recipes, host beer appreciation and brewing classes to the staff and community. Brewing experience is required.

They ACCOMMODATE a max of 10 people each - great for private parties! 

Reservation fee is $125, this is refundable if cancellation OCCURS prior to 24 hours.  Cancellations less than 24 hours are non-refundable

$75 of the deposit will be put towards the bill
